Research: Detailed Artist and Album Research

Our main task for A2 is to create a music video. There are various criteria the track has to meet, including being contemporary (since 2010). After much thought, I have chosen my artist to be HAIM.

HAIM is an American pop band who originate from California. The band consists of four members, Este Arielle Haim, Danielle Sari Haim, Alana Mychal Haim and Dash Hutton, 3 of whom are sisters. The album I have chosen to use is called 'Days are Gone', which was released in 2013 by Polydor records and is the group's first studio album. The album charted well in a number of countries, reaching number 1 in the UK and peaking at number 6 in the US.

To date the group have release six singles from the 11 track album, the most successful song being their fourth single 'The Wire' which peaked at 16 in the UK singles chart.

The band was formed in 2006, however for the 5 years following the groups creation they only performed at local venues. It wasn't until 2011 when the sisters came together and started to take the band more seriously. They had all been engrossed in other projects up until this point, including singing in Cee Lo Green's backing group, and completing college courses. 2012 marked the groups first release, an EP titled 'Forever' which was a free download on the band's website, haimtheband.com. It gained them a lot of attention and they went on to support global names such as Mumford and Sons and Florence and the Machine. The group featured on Zane Lowe's popular radio show where they debuted their next single, 'Don't Save Me'. They are now signed to ROC NATION.

Their sound has been likened to Fleetwood Mac, and they claim their influences to be TLC, Destiny's Child, Kendrick Lamar, Jessie Ware and Mariah Carey.
